There are many ways to Compare Auto Insurance Rates in Massachusetts.
The first way is to sit down at the computer and type: Compare Auto Insurance Rates in Massachusetts into your browser.
Good luck with that.
You’ll either wind up with a behemoth, big-budget direct writer like: Geico, Progressive, Liberty Mutual or Allstate
OR
You’ll end up on an information gathering website which uses your information for more than the promise of insurance rates.
The best way to Compare Auto Insurance Rates in Massachusetts is to use an independent agent.
There are a host of reasons to use an independent insurance agent. One of the reasons is because of insurance markets. The average independent insurance Agency uses a minimum of five insurance companies to quote your auto insurance.
This gives the independent insurance agent a market advantage.
MassAutoQuote uses the power of the Independent Insurance Agency
By calling, stopping by, or submitting one of our quote request forms, you are utilizing the independent shopping power of the independent agent.
We will find the most competitive coverage and discount programs to offer you the best rates.
As an auto insurance agent, I’m often asked: “How do I bundle my insurance?”
Well, Frances, it’s easier than you imagined.
Before you ask who Frances is, let me explain:
A bundle is simply putting your auto and home insurance with the same company. You might also want to add an umbrella policy to your bundle.
With bundling comes discounts. Some companies offer as high as 25% discount per policy if you have a home, apartment or condominium policy bundled with an auto insurance policy.
The trick is, different companies offer different discounts for bundling your account.
That’s one of the reasons it’s important to shop your auto insurance through MassAutoQuote.com.
We shop your insurance with numerous companies to find the best discounts for your personal insurance needs.
We’ll find you the best rates, the best discounts, and offer you coverage choices.
We believe in the power of the independent insurance agent. Why? Because we’ve seen it. In fact, we’ve lived it. For 25 years we’ve been opening the door, selling insurance and servicing clients. For these reasons, believe us when we tell you: Take Advantage of our Auto Insurance Renewal Review.
If nothing else, after we’ve sunk our proverbial teeth into your auto insurance, we’ll make coverage suggestions and, most likely, save you a ton of money.
How do we do it? Is it magic? No, it’s better than magic. It’s called: Markets.
With markets comes choices. With choices comes pricing.
These days, in Massachusetts, auto insurance companies’ rates are all over the place. Gone are the days of the “State-set” rates.
It’s the new Wild West and it’s why it’s so important to get your auto insurance renewal review.
Just send us over a copy of your auto insurance coverage pages and let us get to work.
Who has the lowest price Massachusetts Auto insurance?
As a Massachusetts auto insurance broker I often get asked the question: Who has the lowest price for auto insurance?
I start to answer, stutter and start to answer again.
“It depends …” and I begin the long, exotic tale about Massachusetts auto insurance.
There once was a time, eons ago, when all companies had the same price for auto insurance as dictated by The Mighty: MA Auto Insurance Commissioner.
Wide-eyed, my listeners’ attention captivated, I continue:
There was one company, however, that offered the Holy Grail of auto discounts: The 5% AAA – auto club discount. That company was: Commerce. Commerce was The King.
Then, in 2008 “managed competition,” competitive rating, auto insurance rode into Massachusetts on a white horse followed, in 2012, by a scurrying green lizard.
Commerce Insurance morphed into MAPFRE and waved their 33% Massachusetts auto market share adios.

Basically, the 11 point something Commerce/MAPFRE has lost has gone to Geico. (This, of course, is an over-simplification. They, and others, have taken business from others.)
But this, of course, as is everything, is just the beginning of our story.
Who has the lowest price for Massachusetts auto insurance?
In 2008 our growing independent agency took on new company appointments (including Progressive).
America changed the way we shop for everything, including auto insurance. We flocked to the internet. We compared prices, we compared coverage, we compared companies.
Companies changed the way they price their products.
One company marketing representative expressed delight when he declared their auto rates had an infinite amount of price points. Their price went infinitely out of site as their MA market share dwindled.
Insurance Companies each charted out their course and defined who and what their target market would be.
Often companies targeted the same market and a premium, blood-bath of consumer savings ensued. In fact, it could be argued, continues today.
Which leads me to, and in conclusion, who has the lowest price for auto insurance in Massachusetts?
Well, it’s settled. You’re moving to Massachusetts!
Let us be one of the first to welcome you.
Massachusetts is a great State. From our beaches, to our mountains, our cities, our colleges, universities, hospitals, and our storied history. We’ve got it all!
Then it dawns on you, what about auto insurance?
Here’s the big thing:
In order to insure your vehicles you have to sign an application and get your vehicles Registered and Titled.
How can I get my vehicle registered and insured in Massachusetts?
Step 1 –Find your auto insurance policy.
We can help.
Find coverage and premium you’re comfortable with. We will shop numerous companies for you.
We’ve been quoting Massachusetts auto insurance online since 1999 (that’s longer than Geico’s been quoting here).
By getting a MA auto insurance quote from us, you utilize the shopping power of the Massachusetts independent insurance agent.
We’ll quote you with numerous companies and offer you the best rates and coverage options.
Step 2 – Get your vehicle registered.
In Massachusetts insurance and registration go “hand-in-hand.”
You can’t have one without the other.
Once you have found the auto insurance coverage and premium you are comfortable with, will put together a Registry of Motor Vehicles Form 1 (RMV-1) with an insurance stamp.
Note: Massachusetts is a “Title state,” in order to get new MA plates you have to turn in your prior, out-of-state title, and get a new MA title.
Your MA driving record is determined by things such as: years licensed, at-fault accidents, violations, citations, and suspensions.
(Remember: You must obtain annual vehicle inspection sticker within seven (7) days of your vehicle’s registration date.)
So, although moving to Massachusetts is a big move, hopefully, MassAutoQuote will be able to make it a little easier.
We’ll find you the best best auto insurance and help you get your vehicle registered.

property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies.
Example: “The claimant received all of his assets because he did not carry enough liability coverage.”
Let’s face it: auto insurance should protect your assets. Your greatest threat of a liability lawsuit is when you’re driving your vehicle.
On the Massachusetts auto insurance policy the coverage that best protects you from potential law suit is your Part 5, Optional Bodily Injury to Others, coverage.
Do you know what you carry for your Part 5 coverage?
As an aside, we believe your Parts 3 & 12, Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Coverage, should match your Part 5 coverage.
In addition to $250,000 per person/$500,000 per accident limits, we recommend you carry personal liability umbrella coverage.
At your convenience, give us a call, click or visit to discuss.
Tips to make sure you are getting the best auto rates:
It’s important to shop around and look for every discount available.
The first place to start when looking for the best auto premium is by packaging your auto insurance with the same company as your home insurance.
If you don’t own a home or condominium, it might be time to purchase apartment insurance coverage. If not for the only reason of taking advantage of an auto insurer’s “account discount.”
Other discounts to consider:
Did you drive less than 10,000 miles over the past 12 months?
Are you a good driver? Have you had any at-fault accidents or moving violations over the past 6 years?
Do you pay your bills in full?
Do you receive your bills and documents by e-mail?
Did you recently get married? Do you have the same company as your spouse?
Are any of your kids good students? Do they have a “B” or better average?
Plows are breaking out in every community. Our phone rings and our client on the other end has questions about plowing and plates or plowing and insurance or both.
Here’s the skinny: Massachusetts law is clear on the point that if you plow for hire, you need Commercial plates.
Personal passenger plates are acceptable only if you plow your own driveway, or if say you plow a relatives driveway but do not get paid. Even still, a police office might write a ticket to a vehicle plowing with Private passenger plates- such a ticket would need to be appealed.
Insurance and plowing is a little more complicated.
Insurance carriers have different appetites for vehicles used for plowing. We work with some that will not write plows of any kind, others that will write only vehicles used for residential plowing and others that allow plowing without restriction.
Please call if you plow and we can review your specific situation to ensure you have the right coverage and plates.

You drive to and from work every day. You take your kids to the ballgame. You go shopping. Have you ever wondered if your car were in an accident, how you would be able to survive without a car? We have the answer. It’s Substitute Transportation Coverage to the rescue. The good thing about car insurance is that you can buy a number of endorsements for additional protections and rental car reimbursement is one of them.
What is Substitute Transportation on MA Auto Policy?
Substitute Transportation Coverage is Part 10 on the Massachusetts Personal Auto Policy. Substitute Transportation Coverage provides financial protection for you if you need a vehicle when your car is damaged in an accident covered by your Comprehensive or Collision coverage. Some policies cover car rentals when your vehicle undergoes mechanical repairs. Rental reimbursement is generally available only with policies that include collision and comprehensive coverage.
How Do I Know If I Purchased the Coverage on My Massachusetts Car Insurance Policy?
The first several pages of your insurance policy are called the declarations pages. These pages contain the declarations of the coverages you have purchased for each of your vehicles and include the specific description of your vehicle(s). Look for a line item listed as “Rental” or “Extended Transportation,” with a dollar amount listed to the side of it. You have purchased this insurance only if there is a dollar coverage amount next to it and there is a policy premium amount listed for the insured vehicle. You may purchase the coverage for one vehicle but not for another, at your option.
How Substitute Transportation Coverage Works
The optional rider offsets the daily cost of a rental vehicle for a specific time period and up to the specific daily limit you purchased. You can generally purchase limits of $15/day $450 total (costs about $14 annually) and $30/day $900 total (costs about $54 annually). The first number indicates the daily maximum coverage and the second is the maximum coverage for 30 days. For example, if you purchase 30/900, the policy would pay up to $30 per day for up to a maximum of 30 days or $900, whichever comes first.
Most insurance carriers have pre-arranged agreements with several car rental agencies that may include direct bill and pre-negotiated rates. Remember, if you exceed your policy limits, you are responsible for the difference. You should select a rental rate based on the type of car you need. If you have a family SUV, you should select a daily rental rate for a comparable vehicle.
How Do I Know When I Am Covered?
The time to find out if you have this coverage is BEFORE an accident. So call your independent agent. If you purchased the coverage, you are insured while the vehicle is in the shop being repaired, up to your coverage limits. If your vehicle is not drivable, you may be able to get a rental vehicle before your vehicle is being repaired, but always check with your agent first. If your vehicle is stolen, call the insurance company or your agent immediately after calling the police to report the car stolen since most have a clause in the policy that does not cover a rental vehicle for the first 48 hours after the reported loss. If your vehicle is totaled you will have a limited time frame in which to replace it and that may be less than the maximum that could be paid out under this coverage.
