Good question. If you call your agent and give them the VIN # they’ll be able to access MA RMV records. However, they won’t be able to access other states. Perhaps your local Police Department might be able to do a thorough search. Good luck.

We’re an independent insurance Agency and we do not issue plates. We looked into it once and it was very expensive and very regulated.
When a plate is cancelled how long before you issue that plate to a new registration?

Yes, you can let someone else use your car if license is suspended. You will want to add that person as a listed operator on your insurance policy.
My front license plate was stolen. I reported it to the Worcester Police Department. They told me to let the RMV know as well. I called and there were 186 calls ahead of me. Help!

I would like consideration for a surcharge I was assigned and deemed at fault. I was not responsible because the other party was driving out of lane crossing the painted line to pass the cars waiting for the traffic light to change. I didn’t appeal because of two surgeries at Brigham and Womens. This is a hardship for me based on my age 83 and health problems. I have all the material regarding the incident and was judged responsible for 51% but the other party was diving reckless and irresponsibly.

I recommend you contact your insurance agent or present company and let them know to notify the RMV “behind the scene.” If you want an updated Registration (which you don’t really need), you will need a “RTA” form from your Agent (or company) and then you bring that to the RMV and they’ll charge you $25 for updated Registration. I recently (11/30/2020) purchased a new automobile. The dealer was transferring the plates from my trade in. The dealer just emailed me a Certificate of Registration that expires on February 28, 2021. Isn’t it customary for that plate transfer begins another 2 year expiration? Or does it simply roll over the registration expiration to the same date it would have expired on the car I trades in?
The registration from the old vehicle rolls over to the new vehicle. Registration expiration date stays the same.

I recommend you visit your local RMV branch and request new decal. Bring your paperwork as proof of renewal. Or, if you have an independent agent, you could ask them to send you a decal.

Hi. I believe you can give your daughter your current, special plate. You will want to write a note saying you are giving it to her, sign and date. She will then want her insurance agent to put together a Registry “RTA” form which will allow for the transfer.
