Massachusetts Auto Insurance Quotes

When shopping for Massachusetts auto insurance quotes, remember:

  • All quotes are not created equal.

Have your existing Coverage Selections Page in front of you. Make sure you are getting an “apples to apples” MA auto insurance quote comparison.

In this humble, MA independent insurance agent’s opinion, the most important coverage on the MA auto policy is your Part 5, Optional Bodily Injury to Others coverage. This is, essentially, your law-suit coverage.

We recommend you carry, at least, limits of $100,000 per person/ $300,000 per accident limits. We also recommend you match your Parts 3 & 12 (protects you & occupants from Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Coverage).

  • Get quotes for improved liability limits.

If you carry liability limits of less than $100,000 per person/ $300,000 per accident (Parts 3, 5 & 12 on the MA auto insurance policy), have your insurance agent quote you improved coverage. You might be surprised how affordable better limits are. Limits of $250,000 per person/ $500,000 per accident are available and we recommend you:

  • Consider Personal Liability Umbrella coverage.

Personal Liability Umbrella coverage “sits-over” your auto and home liability limits. Coverage limits are from $1,000,000 – $5,000,000. Companies require underlying auto insurance limits of $250,000 per person/ $500,000 per accident.

  •   Does your auto insurance coverage include “accident forgiveness” and “disappearing deductible?”

When getting Massachusetts Auto Insurance Quotes check to see if their quote includes  the valuable “accident forgiveness” and “disappearing deductible” features. Make sure your coverage includes these endorsements. Note: most MA insurance companies will offer these endorsements if you are an experienced driver (6+ years) with an excellent driving record (in MA: step “99” or “98” drivers).

  • Have you packaged your MA auto insurance with your home, condominium, or apartment insurance?

If not, make certain your MA insurance agent packages your auto with your home insurance company. It is the only way to ensure you are getting the best premiums. If you have packaged your products, and you are considering moving your auto only to another insurer: beware! You will, most likely, lose the large account discount on your home insurance.  When shopping for your Massachusetts Auto Insurance Quotes, shop your auto and home insurance at the same time!.

Multi-policy Discounts Can Save a Bundle on Auto Insurance Rates

Are you looking for easy ways to save time and money? Then, you should learn more about combining the various types of insurance you have with one insurance company to take advantage of a multi-policy discount.

You may qualify for a multi-policy discount if you have one or more cars and an apartment or home. But it might be up to you to ask your independent insurance agent about the discounts available to you. Let’s see what kind of insurance policies you can bundle, why it’s beneficial to get a multi-policy discount, and what you can expect to save by consolidating your insurance premiums under one provider.

What Policies Can You Bundle with Auto Insurance?

Chances are that you have more than just auto insurance, but what other kinds of policies can you ask your insurance company about bundling to get the most out of a multi-policy discount? Here are a few examples:

Home: Whether you rent or own your home, the insurance you buy to protect your dwelling is very commonly bundled with auto insurance.

Boat: Enjoy your adventures on the high seas, rivers or lakes more than ever while knowing you’ve done all you can to save money on insurance.

RV: A recreational vehicle is your home away from home. Insure it and other “toys” you drive with the same insurance company and save.

Life Insurance: Depending on the insurance company you are working with, you can get a multi-policy discount on life insurance, which most people consider essential to protect their family in the event of an untimely death.

Why Get a Multi-policy Discount?

When you’re already paying several insurance premiums to different providers, it makes sense to bundle the rates. The best reasons to switch your current insurance policies to one company are that you will save time and you will save money.

It’s Convenient to Bundle Insurance Policies

It’s simple, if you have multiple policies with one insurance carrier, you’ll see less paperwork and fewer bills. You’ll not only save yourself time, but your insurance company saves time too, which is one reason they offer the discount in the first place. When you’ve got a multi-policy discount, you’ll conveniently be paying just one insurance provider for your insurance needs.

How Much Money Can You Save?

The multi-policy discount you receive will depend on which policies and how many you bundle with your insurance company. Your discount will also vary from provider to provider. Usually, your multi-policy discount could save you up to 15 percent or more on your insurance rates.

We Help You Find the Best Multi-policy Discount

There are plenty of things you value in life: your car, your home, your health. Insuring yourself against the worst is important, but it doesn’t have to be time-consuming. When you bundle your insurance policies, you’ll save money on the things that are important to you.

MassAutoQuote.com will help you take the fuss out of paying for multiple policies and find the provider that will give you the best multi-policy discount for you. Contact us today to find out what policies you have that qualify for a multi-policy discount.

Do I Need Collision Coverage on my MA Auto Insurance Policy?

Most of us have, at one time or another, looked at a bill for our car insurance premium and wondered, “Do I really need all the auto insurance I’m buying?” Some coverage is “nice” to have and other coverage we “need” to have.

Collision Coverage Protects the Value of Your Car When Damaged in an Accident

Most of us have, at one time or another, looked at a bill for our car insurance premium and wondered, “Do I really need all the auto insurance I’m buying?”

Some coverage is “nice” to have and other coverage we “need” to have.

Where is collision coverage on that scale?

Imagine you’re in a car accident, sitting in the driver’s seat in total surprise and shock. Once you have determined that everyone involved is safe, your attention will shift to the damage to your vehicle. If you carry collision coverage, you have already taken important steps toward getting your car fixed.

What Is Collision Coverage?

In plain terms, collision coverage pays to fix what happens to your car when it hits another vehicle or when another car hits you. Your car is far more likely to be damaged in a “collision” than from all other incidents combined. If you have noticed the increase in inattentive drivers on the road, you can readily understand that being in an accident is sometimes simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Collision coverage pays regardless of fault.

Your car insurance will pay (less your deductible) to repair or replace your car even if you are the one at fault in an accident. But be aware that your policy probably excludes some causes of damage, for example, if you are racing or if you intentionally run into someone.

  • If another driver is responsible for an accident, whose car insurance pays? You collision coverage will pay to fix your car and then try to recover the costs from the other driver’s liability insurance, thus saving you the trouble of trying to recover from the responsible party. If your insurance company recovers the full amount of damages, your deductible may be reimbursed as well. Collision coverage will pay to fix damage to your vehicle even if another driver causes the accident, flees the scene and cannot be found.
  • Optional extensions to collision coverage may be available. Besides basic collision coverage, there is other coverage you can add, such as Towing and Labor and Rental Reimbursement. These “extras” are relatively inexpensive, and can be helpful with the arrangements you may have to make after an accident.

Why Do I Need Collision Insurance?

If you financed the purchase of your auto, you likely are required to carry collision coverage. The lender holds title to the vehicle and will normally require that “full” insurance (including collision coverage) remains in place as long as the loan is outstanding. Once the vehicle is paid off, or if you paid cash for it, you have the title and can decide for yourself whether to carry collision coverage on your auto policy.

Even if a lender is not requiring collision coverage, the insurance provides important protection on a vital asset — your vehicle — that can be very expensive to repair or replace. Most of us rely heavily on our cars during our daily lives. You should ask yourself how you will get around if your car is damaged. What if it is totaled? Can you afford to buy a new car? If you are considering removing collision coverage, you should, at the very least, make sure that you have alternate transportation readily available.

Protect Yourself and Your Car

Everyone who operates a vehicle has a serious risk of being involved in an accident. It is important to realize that the odds of being in an accident depend not just on your driving skills, but other drivers as well. If the damage from an accident would cause you financial problems, consider including collision coverage on your auto insurance policy.  As your online, MA independent insurance agent, we can help you decide on the car insurance you need to protect you and your vehicle.

Massachusetts Lemon Law

When life gives you a lemon … give it back!

Have you been sold a lemon of a vehicle?

Many people have asked us about the Massachusetts Lemon Law.

To qualify for the MA Lemon Aid Law, your vehicle must fail an official Massachusetts safety and emissions inspection within 7 days of purchase.

Next, you must get a written estimate for the cost for the inspection-related repairs. If the repair estimate is for more than 10% of the purchase price of the vehicle, you can get a full refund from the seller (private party or dealer).

To get a refund you must return the vehicle to the seller within 14 days of purchase with a signed statement by the inspector of why the vehicle failed, a copy of the estimate and a letter telling the seller that you want to cancel the sale.

MA Online Quotes

Since MassAutoQuote opened our internet doors in 2001 we have provided tens — if not hundreds — of thousands of auto insurance quotes to Massachusetts consumers.

For the past decade, while on top of search engine listings, we’ve been asking companies and vendors to allow us to quote MA auto insurance in a real-time environment.

We imagined a time when MA auto insurance consumers could get real-time, online quotes from multiple insurance companies. A place where shoppers could manipulate and research coverage, premium and discount options.

Recently the leading MA auto insurance comparative rating vendor, Boston Software, released a product that allows for real-time quotes from a number of insurance companies, through independent insurance agency websites.

What may seem like a small thing is, in my opinion, a big thing. I believe it is the tip of a very large insurance iceberg which will prove to be a great thing for the MA independent insurance agent, and an even greater thing for the MA auto insurance consumer!

Stay tuned …
